Pentimenti Gallery
The Expanded Diagram: Diagrammatic Thinking in Contemporary Art

Gallery Talk & Reception:
Saturday, October 6, 5:00 - 7:00 PM
Talk at 5:30 PM

GUEST SPEAKERS:
Steven Baris: Artist
Dr. Kevin Richards: Low-Residency MFA Program Head; Chair of Liberal Arts; Associate Professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
Sid Sachs: Director of Exhibitions, Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery, University of the Arts, Philadelphia

Speakers will explore The Expanded Diagram project, a thesis proposed by artist, Steven Baris, stating that for some artists, diagrammatic thinking aptly describes a significant aspect of their creative process—more cogently than the many art labels and categories currently offered. Even though the majority of these artworks do not look like conventional diagrams, the way these artists think about and develop their artwork mirrors critical features of diagrammatic processes.

For further information, please contact the gallery at 215.625.9990 or mail@pentimenti.com. This gallery talk is presented by Pentimenti Gallery, in partnership with “Sensory Design Week: 7 days, 12 galleries, 1 place Old City" Philadelphia Design District. Pentimenti Gallery is located at 145 N 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106
